Science fair mentors needed
The MGH/Timilty Partnership is seeking MGH employees to mentor Timilty Middle School students with their science fair projects. Mentors meet with students at the MGH or CNY on Friday mornings, twice a month from October through February. The Partnership provides ongoing mentor training and support. For more information,

Blood Donor Center expands hours
The MGH Blood Donor Center is expanding its hours to give employees and visitors more opportunities to donate. For whole blood donations, the center will be open Tuesday through Thursday, from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm, and Friday, from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. For platelet donations, the center will be open Tuesday through Thursday, from 7:30 am to 5 pm, and Friday, from 8:30 am to 3 pm. The center is closed on Mondays. Design and Conduct of Clinical Trials course
The Education Unit of the Clinical Research Program, in collaboration with the MGH Cancer Center and Infectious Disease Unit, will offer "Design and Conduct of Clinical Trials"Sept. 8 through Nov. 3 on Mondays and Thursdays from 5 to 6:15 pm in the Trustees Room. The fee is $200 and includes the textbook. Enrollment is limited. Genetic Basis of Adult Medicine course
The Harvard Medical School Department of Continuing Education will host "The Genetic Basis of Adult Medicine 2005: What the Primary Care Provider Needs to Know" Sept. 23 to 25 for adult health care providers, primary care physicians and genetic counselors. The course will be held at the Fairmont Copley Plaza Hotel. Speakers will include physicians from the MGH and BWH. For more information about the course, visit www.cme.hms.harvard.edu/genetics.

Annual MGH photo contest
The MGH Photography Department will host the eighth annual MGH photo contest this year. This competition is open to all MGH and Partners employees. Contestants may submit up to two photographs on any subject, each no larger than 8 by 10 inches, unmounted and unframed. Entry forms are available in the Photography Department. All entries must be submitted with completed entry form by Sept. 16. Winners will be announced Sept. 29 at the Police, Outside Services, Parking and Photography (POPPS) Fair under the Bulfinch Tent, and prizes will be awarded. All submissions will be displayed.
