MGH to host health care disparities conference

Peter L. Slavin, MD, president of the MGH, and members of the MGH Committee on Racial and Ethnic Disparities invite all employees and staff to attend the Racial and Ethnic Disparities in Health Care Conference June 27, from noon to 1 pm in the O'Keeffe Auditorium. The conference will feature the viewing of "Worlds Apart" a documentary film that captures the experiences of a group of diverse patients with chronic medical conditions as they face the cross-cultural challenges of today's health care environment.

Robert Phillips, a kidney transplant recipient who was featured in the documentary, will join a panel discussion after the film, along with Win Williams, MD, director of the MGH Interventional Nephrology and Transplant Unit and director of the MGH Multicultural Affairs Office, and Angelleen Peters-Lewis, RN, PhD (c), nurse manager for the MGH Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Unit. The event is co-sponsored by Patient Care Services, the Community Benefit program, the Multicultural Affairs Office, the Association of Multicultural Members of Partners and the Massachusetts General Physicians Organization.
