Eldercare discussion group
The MGH Employee Assistance Program (EAP) will sponsor an eldercare discussion group May 10, from noon to 1 pm in the Trustees Conference Room. Barbara Moscowitz, LICSW, an MGH geriatric social worker, will discuss care coordination, legal, estate and medical issues, and caring for oneself while caring for an elder. Neurofibromatosis symposium
The MGH and the New England Chapter of the Children's Tumor Foundation will host medical symposium for those affected by neurofibromatosis and their family and friends May 15, from 1:30 to 5 pm at CNY Building 149. The symposium will feature two components that will run concurrently — "Day at the Lab" for children ages 9 to 16 and "Meet the Researchers" for adults. Space is limited. Leadership Academy's book club
The MGH Leadership Academy will hold its first leadership book club June 2, from 4 to 6:30 pm. Jim Noga, chief information officer for MGH/MGPO, will explore how the lessons from the book Leading at the Edge can be applied to the MGH. This book translates the story of Earnest Shackleton and his team's two-year expedition on the unexplored Antarctic continent to 10 lessons about what it takes to be a great leader. MIT symposium
The Massachusetts Institute of Technology's (MIT) Clinical Research Center will sponsor its annual symposium May 10, from 1 to 4 pm at the MIT Building E15, the Bartos Theater. This year's topic “Depression: Diagnosis and Treatment” will feature speakers Maurizio Fava, MD, Timothy Petersen, MD, Adele Viguera, MD, MPH, Andrew Nierenberg, MD, and moderator David Mischoulon, MD, PhD, all of MGH Psychiatry. CNY blood drive
MGH employees working at CNY are invited to participate in a blood drive May 11, from 8:30 am to 2 pm. Menopause and Your Health
MGH Revere will host "Menopause and Your Health" May 10, from 5:30 to 8 pm. The program is designed to help women better understand the facts about menopause and current treatment options.
