Mass. senate president visits MGH Massachusetts Senate President Robert Travaglini paid a visit to the MGH March 21 to meet with MGH and Partners leaders and to tour areas of the hospital. The senator and members of his staff met with Peter L. Slavin, MD, president of the MGH; David Torchiana, MD, chairman and CEO of the Massachusetts General Physicians Organization; James J. Mongan, MD, president and CEO of Partners HealthCare; Thomas Glynn, PhD, chief operating officer for Partners; Jack Connors, chairman of the Board of Trustees for Partners; and other hospital staff. Sen. Travaglini and his staff then took a tour of the operating rooms and observed a surgical procedure.
"Senate President Travaligni has been a great supporter and friend to the MGH and has taken a courageous leadership position on the emotional and politically charged issue of stem cell research, which is so vital to the biomedical research efforts at the MGH, Harvard and the greater Boston research community," says Torchiana. "It was a real treat for all of us to have him come and spend a few hours at the MGH and learn about some of the challenges we face." |
