What's
in a name? A call for titles for the MGH magazine
The MGH has been working with a team from Time, Inc. Strategic Communications
to plan and produce a quarterly magazine that will focus on medical innovation,
discovery and the path and progress toward the health care of tomorrow.
The intended audience includes a broad national mix of physician practitioners
and researchers, policy leaders, thought and opinion leaders, venture
capitalists, philanthropists, academics and others with an interest in
medical frontiers. The magazine will offer high-caliber articles that
will showcase medical technology, innovation and health care in a lively,
colorful and compelling style. With a target date of September for the
first issue, the magazine is yet to be named.
While some names are under discussion, none have emerged as a clear front-runner.
MGHers are invited to submit their creative ideas for a magazine moniker.
Below are a few guidelines for the name.
Try to limit the title to one to three words. Most magazine titles
are brief.
Massachusetts General Hospital or MGH should not be in the name.
The hospital will likely be identified in a subtitle or elsewhere.
Made-up words will be considered. For example, Haagen-Dazs isn't
a real person, place or thing — but it now is a common name.
Latin or Greek words also will be considered.
To enter the naming contest, send the following information to Hotline@partners.org
or call the MGH Public Affairs Office at (617) 724-6433: Name, department,
phone number and title suggestion. The deadline for submissions is April
6. If one of the submissions is chosen as the magazine title, the person
who submitted that name will receive a prize from Time, Inc.
