Neither
rain nor sleet nor snow...
Another winter snowstorm March 1 didn't keep nearly 300 house staff physicians
from attending
the ninth annual Partners HealthCare House Staff Core Curriculum Retreat.
The two-day event had a record turnout. Hosted by Debra Weinstein, MD,
Partners vice president and director of Graduate Medical Education (GME),
and Jo Shapiro, MD, associate director of GME, the retreat included breakout
sessions led by 25 Harvard Medical School faculty.
This year's retreat featured Don Berwick, president of the Institute for
Healthcare Improvement, as the guest speaker. Breakout sessions focused
on a variety of topics including "Giving Patients Bad News,"
"Leadership in Medicine" and "Medical Mistakes."
The annual event provides interns and first-year residents from all specialties
and all Partners hospitals a chance to discuss these important topics
together and interact with faculty from across the Partners system.
