First MGH Leadership Academy course held The MGH Leadership Academy a new program
to help managers refine their skills to become even more successful leaders
held its first class, a strategic planning seminar, Feb. 10. Led
by Allison Rimm, vice president for Strategic Planning and Information
Management, the first class focused on what strategic planning entails.
Over the course of the coming year, the course will cover topics such
as how to assess an organization's strengths and weaknesses, set goals
and develop the planning process. As part of the course, participants
will help nonprofit agencies with strategic planning projects. "This course is a win-win proposition offered to seasoned managers and is intended to further develop their leadership skills," says Rimm. "The community placement will give them the opportunity to hone their planning skills while offering an important service to organizations that serve vulnerable populations." The academy also offers a classroom located in the Training and Workforce Development Suite at 100 Charles River Plaza, second floor. The room will be configured to facilitate peer-to-peer learning and will be available to managers to reserve for meetings. When the room is not reserved, it will be available for managers to use as a study lounge. A leadership library is being created as another resource for managers.
