A gift
from the Ladies Visiting Committee
Through the generosity of the Ladies Visiting Committee (LVC),the recently
opened Yawkey Center for Outpatient Care has acquired a new shuttle bus.
The shuttle service, which began Feb. 28, provides transportation for
patients and their families around the main campus. Wheelchair accessible,
the shuttle comfortably seats 15. It will run continuously Monday through
Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, making a 20-minute loop with multiple stops
at the Yawkey Center, WACC, the Charles Street/MGH T station, the Cox
Building, the Jackson Building and Staniford Street/Charles River Plaza.
"Through the proceeds of our four shops, we were able to give back
to the hospital by making a donation to purchase this shuttle for MGH
patients," said Mimi McDougal, chairman of the LVC.
The LVC, founded in 1869, is one of the oldest hospital auxiliaries in
the United States. Their volunteer members oversee the LVC-retail shops,
which include the MGH General Store and Flower Shop, the MGH General Hair
Care Center, the Images Boutique and the General Store at the Yawkey Center.
