MGH introduces new "eBuy" purchasing system

The MGH will be launching a new Partnerswide online requisitioning system March 1 that will replace all current forms of requisitioning. E-Procurement, which will be commonly referred to as eBuy, is a front-end system to the PeopleSoft Purchasing module. The system has a look similar to the popular website Amazon.com, with simple navigation that allows users to point, click and buy. It provides several advantages compared to the current system - including the elimination of paper, real-time tracking from the creation of a requisition to the payment of the invoice, electronic approval system for improved management — and most importantly, it will save time.

In December 2004, a pilot group went live using the eBuy system, with representation from the Operating Rooms, the Cardiac Catheterization Lab, the Electrophysiology (EP) Lab, BioMedical Engineering, Interventional Radiology and others. The feedback from the group has been positive.

Shana Bryant, of the EP Lab, orders a variety of devices and supplies for her department multiple times a day. As a member of the pilot group, she was one of the first MGH employees to convert from the old requisitioning system to the new application.

"I really like it," says Bryant. "There is a management screen that reports everything
about your requisition in one place. It eliminates paperwork and keeps track of your purchase order number for you."

Open house information sessions also are scheduled for Feb. 22, from 9 to 10 am in the Clinics 1 Lower Amphitheater; Feb. 22, from 3 to 4 pm in the O'Keeffe Auditorium; and Feb. 25 from 9 to 10 am in the O'Keeffe Auditorium.
