MGHers
have a super time at the Super Bowl
For most people, it's just a dream to attend the
Super Bowl, but for three MGHers that dream became a reality Feb. 2 when
Human Resources announced the winners of the final MGH raffle for tickets
to Super Bowl XXXIX to watch the New England Patriots
win the challenge against the Philadelphia Eagles. Amanda Chaborek, of
the MGH Institute of Health Professions; Lorraine Dox, of Nutrition and
Food Services; and Connie Stubbs, of the Clinical Research Program, could
not believe they were the lucky three out of 2,100 entries. "It still
had not sunk in until we landed in Jacksonville, and the buses were lined
up on the tarmac to take us to the stadium," says Chaborek. From

Chaborek, Dox and Stubbs each received
two round-trip tickets on a charter flight, pre-game hospitality passes
that included food, free drinks and entertainment by the Doug Flutie Band
and Dennis Quaid's band, tickets for the game, and post-game Patriots
extravaganza tickets. "It was a 24-hour trip we will always remember,"
says Dox. "And they will always be fond memories."
Stubbs adds, "The whole experience was like being plugged into an
electrical socket. The biggest charge came from just walking into the
stadium with its roar of sound from the thousands of people and lights
everywhere. There was an incredible energy in the stadium."
Also at the Super Bowl was the MGH medical team for the Patriots including
(below, from left) Brit Nicholson, MD, David Berger, MD, Bertram
Zarins, MD, Thomas Gill, MD, Joseph Czarnecki, MD, and David Mayman, MD.
They stood ready on the sidelines to tend to players' injuries.
