Ash Wednesday services
The MGH
Chaplaincy Department will offer Ash Wednesday services Feb. 9 at
the MGH Chapel. Roman Catholic Mass will be held at 11 am and 4 pm and
an Ecumenical service will be held at 12:15 pm. Ashes will be distributed
in the chapel between 9 am and 5 pm and will be delivered once to each
patient floor between 8 am and 4 pm. Ashes also will be distributed at
the following locations: CNY Building 149, from noon to 2 pm; the Charlestown
HealthCare Center's second floor conference room, from noon to 1 pm; the
Revere HealthCare Center, Sweet Conference Room, from 1:30 to 2:15 pm;
the Chelsea HealthCare Center's third floor conference room, from 8 to
9 am and 12:30 to 1:30 pm; and at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary's
11th floor patient lounge, from 10 to 10:50 am and the sixth floor operating
room lounge, from 11 to 11:30 am. All chapel services will be broadcast
on the MGH in-house television system, Channel 16.
Ethics forum
An ethics forum "Family Presence During Resuscitation: Exploring
the Practice from an Ethical Perspective" will be held Feb. 11, from
noon to 1 pm in the Sweet Conference Room. Panelists will include Patricia
Mian, RN, MS, of MGH Emergency Services, Susan Warchal, RN, of MGH Emergency
Services and chair of the Emergency Department Ethics Committee, and Benjamin
Medoff, MD, associate director of the MGH Pulmonary and Critical Care
Unit. Ellen Robinson, RN, PhD, clinical specialist in Ethics at the MGH,

Medical terminology courses
MGH Human Resources will offer Medical Terminology I starting March 7
and Medical Terminology II starting March 9 at 100 Charles River Plaza,
Suite 200. The cost for part I is $70 and part II is $50. Registration

CRP seminar series
The Clinical
Research Program (CRP) will sponsor "Subject Recruitment - 50
Practical Tips That Work at MGH" Feb. 9, from 11:45 am to 1 pm in
the Wellman Conference Room. Marsha Tennis, RN, of MGH Neurology, will
discuss subject recruitment tips and techniques using her knowledge of
MGH research policies. This lecture qualifies for contact hours. Registration

Eldercare discussion group
The MGH Employee Assistance Program (EAP) will host an eldercare discussion
group Feb. 15, from noon to 1 pm in the Trustees Conference Room, Bulfinch
225A. Barbara Moscowitz, LICSW, an MGH geriatric social worker, will discuss
care coordination, legal, estate and medical issues, and caring for oneself
while caring for an elder. This group also will meet March 15, April 12

Senior HealthWISE seminar
MGH
Senior HealthWISE will sponsor "Sit To Be Fit" Feb. 15,
from 2 to 3 pm at the Clubs
at Charles River Park. Sandy Connor, a personal trainer at the Clubs,
will run this exercise workshop for seniors 60 years and older, free of
