Timilty Science Fair judges needed
The MGH/Timilty Partnership is seeking MGH volunteers to judge student projects at the annual science fair held at the James P. Timilty Middle School in Roxbury. Volunteers are needed to judge projects Feb. 7 to 10, from 8:45 to 11 am. Volunteers may sign up for one or more days. Round-trip transportation to the Timilty School will be provided, departing from the MGH at 8 am and returning at 11:30 am. Spanish for Health Care
Registration for winter classes has begun for Spanish for Health Care. Five levels of classes are offered, including a beginning class for those who have never studied Spanish, as well as more advanced levels. Classes will start the week of Feb. 1, and the cost is $75 for MGH employees and $150 for nonemployees. Classes will be held Tuesday or Thursday for 16 weeks. Payment by check or money order only must be made at the time of registration. Register in person at MGH Training, 100 Charles River Plaza, second floor, from 8 am to 5 pm. EAP work/life seminar
The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) will sponsor a "Single-Again Financial Seminar" Jan. 20, from noon to 1 pm in the Wellman Conference Room. Brendon Vigorito, regional coordinator of education at the Consumer Credit Counseling Services, will discuss credit-related decisions, establishing credit independently and building credit history for divorced people or those in the process of divorce or separation. Employee flu shots
The Massachusetts Department of Public Health has announced that it has lifted all restrictions as to who can receive a flu shot this year. Any MGH employee can get a free flu shot on a walk-in basis Jan. 14, 18 and 19, from 7:30 am to 4 pm at the MGH Occupational Health Service, 100 Charles River Plaza, Suite 404. Employees will need to show their MGH or Partners ID badge to receive a flu shot.

Martin Luther King Day event
Partners HealthCare will sponsor "A Celebration of the Legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr." Jan. 28, from 9 to 10 am in the O'Keeffe Auditorium. The event will feature Alvin F. Poussaint, MD, author, psychiatrist, educator and respected social critic. A reception will immediately follow in the Trustees Room. Admission is free, and no tickets are required. Nursing Career Expo
MGH Patient Care Services Human Resources will host a Nursing Career Expo Jan. 23, from noon to 3 pm in the North and East Garden Dining Rooms. Learn about and interview for staff nurse (new graduates and experienced), clinical nurse specialist, nurse manager and nurse project manager opportunities. United Way hockey benefit
In support of the United Way campaign, the MGH will sponsor a celebrity hockey game with MGH employees playing against members of the Bruins Legends Jan. 21 at 7:30 pm at Harvard University's Bright Arena. Tickets for the event are $20; children age 10 and under are free. Tickets include a reception following the game in the "Wall of Fame" room.
