Ballet benefits Angel
Fund The world renowned dance troupe Les Ballets de Monte Carlo will shine the spotlight on MGH's Angel Fund at its Sept. 30 Boston performance. As the dancers take the stage, a portion of the evening's revenue will be donated to the fund, which supports research into ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease) at the MGH. The fund is named after "angel of inspiration" Ginny Delvecchio, who was an ALS patient at the MGH until her death Aug. 10. The money benefits the MGH Day Neuromuscular Lab and the work of its director, Robert Brown Jr., MD, who was Delvecchio's neurologist. Established last October, the fund evolved from the Ginny Delvecchio Fund, which began several years earlier. Paul Delvecchio, Ginny's husband and executive director of the fund, says that events such as the ballet contribute to the fund's mission. "Awareness gets us money, money gets us research and research gets us a cure," he says. "We want to stop this devastating disease." The Angel Fund benefit will be the first of Les Ballets de Monte Carlo's five Boston performances. The Sept. 30 program, which will include a medley of dance pieces, such as "Theme and Four Variations," will take place 7 pm, at the New Copley Theatre, 225 Clarendon St., Boston. Tickets cost $65. To purchase tickets, call Debra DiGregorio at 6-5750; the Angel Fund line at (781) 729-7999; or the New Copley Theatre box office at (617) 266-7262. For group sales of 10 or more, call (800) 729-3987. |
