George Thibault, MD, named Partners vice president of Clinical Affairs
His new position, which begins Jan. 1, was created by Samuel O. Thier, MD, president and CEO of Partners, to place a greater emphasis on integration and coordination of care across the system. He will lead the effort to establish and implement criteria for patient flow through the Partners system and will oversee a range of projects to improve physician relationships. Thibault's career as a cardiologist began at the MGH, where, after graduating from Harvard Medical School in 1969, he completed his residency. He served in several leadership roles at the MGH, including founding director of the Medical Practice Evaluation Unit, Medical ICU director and associate chief of Medical Services. In 1988, Thibault was appointed vice chairman of Medicine at BWH and chief of Medical Services and director of Health Services Research and Development at Brockton/West Roxbury VA Medical Center. Thibault was named chief medical officer at BWH in 1995. In that role, he has contributed significantly to Partners, representing the system in negotiations with Newton-Wellesley Hospital and working closely with top clinical and administrative leaders systemwide to improve patient care. Thibault will continue to have a strong presence at BWH and throughout the Partners system. |
