Celebrating Women's
History Month – highlights of accomplished MGH women Since the first patients were cared for at the
MGH in 1821, women – including nurses, social workers, therapists, volunteers and
eventually physicians and researchers – have played an important role at the
hospital.
Family walk honors
mother and supports cancer research Last June, the children of Helen Romaine –
an MGH patient who died of lung cancer in 1997 – organized a walk in her memory and
raised $7,000 for MGH lung cancer research.
MGHers get
inspiration from a champion Olympic gold medalist and world-famous
runner Joan Benoit Samuelson paid a visit to the MGH March 8 to help encourage members of
the MGH Marathon Team preparing to run in the Boston Marathon next month.
A week about and
for kids Children will flock to the MGH HealthCare
Everywhere Fair March 18 to have fun as they learn about health and safety.
