  • MGH Charlestown HealthCare Center to renovate
    Early next year, renovations are expected to begin on the MGH Charlestown HealthCare Center, transforming the interior of the building into a new and improved facility for treating patients from Charlestown and its surrounding communities.
  • Helping through holiday shopping: Annual FAO Schwarz fundraiser
    Holiday shopping at the FAO Schwarz Toy Store in Boston took on a new twist as the Friends of the MGH Cancer Center hosted their annual fundraising event at the store Nov. 15. More than 600 guests participated in the night's festivities, which included a silent auction, "all-American buffet" and holiday shopping for toys, games and books personally signed by visiting authors.
  • Having fun getting fit: MGHer shares health club success story
    MGH employee Marsha Kartzman did not have a fitness regimen one year ago. Although Kartzman had heard about The Clubs at Charles River Park--the full-service health club that was acquired by the MGH this summer--she put off going until a friend coaxed her into swimming there this year. 
  • Partners in Excellence Awards ceremony
    MGHers are invited to join MGH and Partners administration and other colleagues in congratulating the recipients of the 2001 Partners in Excellence Awards Dec. 7, at 4 pm in the WACC Lobby.
  • Prestigious MGH research award announced
    The MGH recently announced the awarding of its highest honor for research--the Warren Triennial Prize--to Francis S. Collins, MD, PhD, director of the Human Genome Research Institute at the National Institutes of Health; and to J. Craig Venter, PhD, president and chief scientific officer of Celera Genomics Corporation.
  • New home for Pediatric Cardiology
    Staff members of MassGeneral Hospital for Children's Pediatric Cardiology unit recently hosted an open house to showcase their newly renovated clinic. Formerly located in the Cardiac Echiocardiography Lab on the fifth floor of the Vincent Burnham Kennedy (VBK) building, the clinic now is located on renovated space on VBK 6.
  • In memoriam
    Robert J. Krane, MD, director of MGH Neurourology, died Nov. 17. Krane made many contributions to the field of urology throughout his career, serving as co-founder and editor of The World Journal of Urology and receiving the American Urological Association Gold Cystoscope Award for his achievements.
