The National Research Corporation in October announced that consumers chose the MGH as the hospital with the highest quality and image in the Boston area. The MGH was one of 126 hospitals to be honored with a Consumer Choice Award. In addition, the MGH's cardiac services were recognized with a parallel award, as consumers named it the top Boston-area hospital for quality heart care.

Each year, the National Research Corporation, a health care performance measurement organization, honors the most preferred hospitals in various metropolitan areas, based on a study of more than 170,000 households.
