What's happening

New direct deposit advice
Weekly paid MGH and Partners employees who have direct deposit received a new direct deposit receipt, called an "advice," Nov. 9. These new, restyled deposit advices are self-sealing, which means the brown envelopes will no longer be used.

Weekly paid employees who do not have direct deposit will receive their usual check in the brown envelope for the next several pay days. New self-sealing checks are scheduled to be introduced for these weekly paid employees in late November or early December.

For more information, MGHers should contact their timekeeper or call their Payroll or Human Resources representative.

Clinical Research Program luncheon seminar
The Clinical Research Program (CRP) will present the new clinical research reference guide "Clinical Research @ MGH: A Handbook for the Clinical Research Community" at the CRP luncheon seminar Nov. 15, noon to 1 pm in the Wellman Conference Room. This 400-page handbook has been designed to offer practical help and advice on topics such as federal and institutional policies, how to start a study, NIH and industry requirements for conducting a study, adverse event reporting and study audits. Also included in the book are creative recruitment strategies and MGH phone numbers and resources. The handbook will be sold at the session. The fee is $50 and may be paid by cash, check or PeopleSoft number. To make reservations for the luncheon, call the CRP reservation line at 726-1669.

The Nursing Department will host open house sessions to recruit staff nurse and surgical technologist positions Nov. 16 and Dec. 14 in the North and East Garden dining rooms and Dec. 7 in the WACC Lobby. All sessions are from 4 to 8 pm. For more information, send e-mail to jdupontleigh@partners.org.

Blood donations needed during Thanksgiving week
The MGH Blood Donor Center will be giving thanks to employees who donate blood Nov. 20 to 24, with special T-shirts. On Nov. 24, all donors will be treated to a dessert buffet as well. Blood donations during holidays are traditionally low, so MGHers are encouraged to donate during the Thanksgiving holiday week to maintain an adequate blood supply. To schedule an appointment, call 726-8171.
