Memorial
service for Ronald Malt, MD
A memorial service will be held for Ronald
A. Malt, MD, a longtime MGH surgeon and former chief of Gastrointestinal
Surgery, Nov. 13 at 1 pm at Harvard's Memorial Church. Malt died at the
Newton-Wellesley Alzheimer's Center Oct. 5 at the age of 70.
Blood
donations needed during holiday season
The MGH
Blood Donor Center will be giving special T-shirts and a choice of
$5 coupons for the Eat Street Café, Coffee Central or a one-day
parking pass to the Lomasney garage to employees who donate blood during
the month of November. On Nov. 26 and 27, donors will receive a free coupon
for a pint of Ben and Jerry's ice cream. In addition, any MGH employee
who donates blood during November will receive a free one-day pass to

seminar series
The Clinical Research
Program (CRP) will sponsor "Using the MGH Clinical Labs in Clinical
Research - Getting It Right" Nov. 13, from 11:45 am to 1 pm in the
Wellman Conference Room. Dick Emrich of the MGH Clinical Labs will discuss
the process involved in requesting research tests, obtaining timely results
and what to do if a patient or a third-party payor is incorrectly charged.

Nursing
career expo
MGH Patient Care Services will
host a nursing career expo Nov. 21, from 1 to 7 pm in the Walcott Conference
Rooms. Information about staff nurse, clinical nurse specialist, patient
care associate and surgical technologist opportunities at the MGH will
be offered. Tours of several units, including Burn, Cardiac Access, Transplant

SAC
symposium
The poster session for the MGH's research symposium in conjunction with
the annual Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) meeting will be held Feb.
5 in the Wellman Conference Room. The deadline for abstract submissions
is Nov. 21. Abstracts will be reviewed and selected on a competitive basis

The MGH Senior Supper Club HealthWISE seminar series will offer an educational
seminar "Holiday Cheer, Holiday Blues" Nov. 25, from 4 to 5

Fruit
Street garage notice
The Boston Transportation Department is conducting a test on Fruit Street,
which began Nov. 4. For the next two weeks, vehicles will not be allowed
to turn right upon exiting the Fruit Street garage. Those picking up patients
should park in the Parkman Street garage. A Boston police detail is assisting
