  • Ether Day 1999 — Celebrating years of service
    "The excellence of the MGH directly reflects the excellence of its employees," said James J. Mongan, MD, MGH president, at the Ether Day celebration Oct. 15. More than 1,500 employees were recognized for their length of service to the MGH.
  • New Spine Tumor Clinic dedicated at the MGH
    Before Brian Silber died in 1996 at the age of 28, after a three-year battle with spinal cord cancer, he told his family that he wanted to help others who suffered from this rare type of tumor. Silber's wish became a reality Oct. 1 with the dedication of the Spine Tumor Clinic at the MGH, established in his memory.
  • Yvonne L. Munn Awards and Lecture
    The Yvonne L. Munn Nursing Research Awards and Lecture were presented in the O'Keeffe Auditorium Oct. 14. They were created in 1994 upon the retirement of Munn, who served as MGH associate general director for Nursing from 1984 to 1993.
  • MGH Pharmacy observes National Pharmacy Week
    This year's theme for National Pharmacy Week (Oct. 24 to 30) – "Educate before you Medicate" – has long been the motto for pharmacy services at the MGH. The Outpatient Pharmacy, located on the first floor of the WACC, plays a particularly important role in educating patients, including employees, about their medications.
  • Halloween safety tips
    Mary Lou Kelleher, RN, a clinical nurse specialist in Pediatrics, offers suggestions to help keep trick-or-treating safe.
