Warren Prosperi, right, a Boston artist, began work on a mural in the Ether Dome this week. The mural depicts the world's first demonstration of ether during surgery in what was then the operating theater on the top floor of the Bulfinch Building. Prosperi estimates that the mural will take approximately one full year to be completed.
