MGHers put themselves in the way: United Way campaign to kick off

Familiar faces will be seen around the hospital beginning Oct. 6 when the MGH United Way campaign kicks off with posters of MGHers who support the United Way. The leadership portion of the campaign was launched at the hospitalwide leadership meeting, held Sept. 24 in the O'Keeffe Auditorium, with the unveiling of one of the posters featuring Peter L. Slavin, MD, president of the MGH, and David Torchiana,MD, chairman and CEO of the Massachusetts General Physicians Organization The MGH posters are similar to the United Way's local advertising campaign that features donors who "put themselves in the way" of difficult issues —such as hunger, homelessness and domestic violence — by supporting the United Way.
Harry Rubash, MD, chief of MGH Orthopaedics and co-chair of the MGH United Way Steering Committee, gave a presentation about this year's campaign at the leadership meeting. Rubash is co-chairing the committee with Dawn Tenney, RN, MSN, associate chief of Perioperative Nursing. More information about this year's United Way campaign will be distributed in the coming weeks.
