Stephanie Macaluso Award

POPPS educational fair
MGH Police and Security, Outside Services, Parking and Photography Services (POPPS) will present an educational fair Sept. 26, from 11 am to 3 pm under the Bulfinch Tent. MGHers are invited to learn about the department and its programs and services. For more information, call (617) 724-3030.

Partners town meeting reminder
Samuel O. Thier, MD, president and chief executive officer of Partners HealthCare, will discuss a variety of topics related to Partners at a town meeting Sept. 23, from 10 to 11 am in the O'Keeffe Auditorium. Questions may be submitted in advance by sending e-mail to Hotline@partners.org

EAP seminar
The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) will be offering a two-part seminar about breastfeeding. "Nourishing Your Newborn" will be held Sept. 24, from 1 to 2 pm. "Working and Breastfeeding: Returning to Work and Maintaining Your Milk Supply," will be held Oct. 22, from 1 to 2 pm. Both seminars will be held in the Larry Martin Conference Room A at CNY. Nathaniel Bowditch Prize nominations
Nominations are being accepted for the 2003 Nathaniel Bowditch Prize. The $5,000 award will be presented to an MGH employee who has helped improve the quality of care while reducing the cost of such care. Nomination forms are available in the Main Lobby, the Blum Patient and Family Learning Center, the Bigelow 10 nursing office and the MGPO office on Bulfinch 2. All nominations should be submitted by Sept. 30 to Andrew Warshaw, MD, chairman of the Bowditch Prize Selection Committee, White 506. For more information, call (617) 726-8254.

Free PVD screening
The MGH will be performing free screenings for peripheral vascular disease (PVD) as part of the national "Legs for Life" campaign Sept. 26, from 9 am to 4 pm in the Wellman Conference Room. PVD is a condition in which arteries that carry blood to the arms or legs become narrow or clogged. For more information, call (617) 724-8586.

MGH basketball league announces new season
The MGH basketball league has announced the beginning of the new season. Any MGHer interested in becoming part of the league at Basketball City, located on the roof of the Lomasney garage, should contact Larry Washington by sending e-mail to llwashington@partners.org The basketball league is a co-ed group and is open to all MGH employees. MGH Web Day 2002
The MGH Marketing Department will be hosting Web Day 2002 Sept. 26, from 7 am to 6 pm. A display table will be set up near Coffee Central in the Main Corridor and will offer information about the MGH web site. The site now has a new look, enhanced navigation and a better search engine.
