The annual scholarships help minority Employees of Partners HealthCare System to pursue their education.

Recipients were honored at a luncheon Sept. 1. Among the speakers were Jeff Otten, president of BWH; Dennis Colling, senior vice president for Human Resources at Partners; and Jeff Davis, vice president of Human Resources at the MGH.

Davis spoke about the MGH's commitment to diversity and its support of AMMP. He thanked the scholarship committee and the members of AMMP for continuing to provide educational opportunities in the Partners community. "The more you learn, the more equipped you are to succeed in your profession and in your daily life," he said.

Velazquez's scholarship will assist in her pursuit of an associate's degree in business from Bunker Hill Community College. Other MGH scholarship winners were Jean Necheles of Surgical Oncology, Dolores Kershaw of Inpatient Psychiatry, and Kimberly Carey of the PACU. BWH recipients were Tarra Holiday, Omar Mohammedsalih, Vadra Tabb, Sandro Quiros and Jacqueline Rodriguez-Louis.
