The MGH Dental Group makes a move

In May, the MGH Dental Group moved from its three-chair wing in the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery suite on WACC 2 to a state-of-the-art, 10-chair facility at 100 Charles River Plaza. The move to a larger facility has enabled the staff to offer a complete spectrum of outpatient dental care services for adult and pediatric
patients —  such as cleanings, bleaching, fillings, dentures, root canals, cosmetics, bonding, crowns and implants.

In addition, the practice has increased its staff to include three general dentists, two hygienists and several visiting specialists — including an orthodontist (braces), an endodontist (root canals), a periodontist (gums) and a pedodontist (pediatric dentist).

Agnes Lau, DMD, director of the group since its inception in 1990, credits the addition of general dentists Kimberly Weiss, DDS, and Traci Portnoff, DMD, as well as the specialists, who are established leaders in their fields, for helping to increase the high quality of services offered by the practice.

According to Lau, the intent of the practice is to expand the hospital's continuum of care for oral and dental care needs. "Our goal is to provide patients with a wide variety of dental care options using state-of-the-art equipment at a convenient location," says Lau. "Our staff follow a patient-based philosophy of providing the most pleasant dental experience possible."

Lau says that the group also has established a well-respected reputation among hospital staff for providing inpatient consultations to medically compromised patients.
