Mass Electric makes donation

Massachusetts Electric presented the MGH with a generous gift July 29, when it donated $15,000 to the MGH Sumner Redstone Burn Center. The gift was in honor of three Mass Electric employees who were burned on the job and treated at the MGH.

Two of the Mass Electric employees who were patients in the Burn Unit presented the check to John Schulz, MD, and Robert Sheridan, MD, both from MGH Burn and Trauma Services, and Andrew Warshaw, MD, MGH surgeon-in-chief.

"We are so happy to present this check to our friends at the MGH," said one patient. "Everyone was so supportive throughout our recovery."

To make the donation possible, the company asked its employees to donate old company hard hats, which many employees kept as souvenirs. The hats then were recycled to generate the funds.

"It is truly an honor to be here today," said Cheryl LaFleur, president of the company. "Mass Electric and its employees are so fortunate to be so close to such a world-renowned hospital. On behalf of all our employees, I thank you for all you've done."
