MGH chalk art
MGH employees are invited to join Boston artist "Sidewalk Sam" in creating sidewalk chalk drawings for the Boston "Chalk One Up for the Arts" Festival Aug. 23, 11 am to 3 pm. MGH Employee Activities, through MGH Human Resources, has reserved individual squares for MGH departments to use. Additional squares still are available for other departments or internal groups. Clinical Pastoral Education Program fellowships
Through the funding of the Kenneth B. Schwartz Center and the MGH Department of Nursing, fellowships now are available for the Winter 2002 MGH Clinical Pastoral Education Program. The program is open to persons from any discipline who work directly with patients and/or families in a health care setting and who wish to integrate spiritual caregiving skills into their professional practice. Four Kenneth B. Schwartz Fellowships will be awarded to caregivers from non-pastoral disciplines, and two Spiritual Caregiver Fellowships will be awarded to MGH registered nurses who are in direct caregiver roles and have a minimum of two years of nursing experience. The program is part-time and will run from Jan. 7 through May 17, 2002. Sessions will be held every Monday – excluding Jan. 21 and April 1 – from 9 am to 5 pm. MGH/Timilty Partnership SummerWorks Showcase
The MGH/Timilty Partnership will hold a SummerWorks Showcase Aug. 8, from 10 am to noon in the Main Corridor. SummerWorks is a career exploration/summer employment program that offers graduating students from the James P. Timilty Middle School paid part-time internships at the MGH during summer vacations. The showcase will feature SummerWorks interns sharing what they have learned during their seven weeks with the program. For more information, call (617) 724-3210.

Friends Fighting Breast Cancer harbor cruise
Friends Fighting Breast Cancer will host a Boston Harbor cruise aboard the MV Provincetown II Aug. 15, sailing from 200 Seaport Blvd. at the World Trade Center at 7 pm. The price is $40 per person, and all proceeds will benefit breast cancer research at the MGH. Advanced Cardiac Life Support Provider courses
The MGH Department of Emergency Services will offer a series of two-day Advanced Cardiac Life Support provider courses, Aug. 18 and 20, Sept. 24 and 27 and Nov. 12 and 19. The tuition fee is $150 for MGH employees, $165 for Partners and Harvard Medical School-affiliated employees and $200 for all others. Spaulding Rehabilitation nursing course
Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital will offer "Rehabilitation Nursing: Process and Principles," a 13-week course for nurses specializing in rehabilitation and/or preparing for the certification examination in rehabilitation nursing, beginning Sept. 11. Classes will meet every Tuesday through Dec. 4, from 4 to 6 pm at Spaulding, 125 Nashua St., Boston. The registration deadline is Aug. 4.
