Friends with Hope founders Janet Ballantine and Cheryl Cavallo of Pembroke, Mass., recently presented the MGH with a check for $20,000 to support breast cancer research. Ballantine and Cavallo, who both are battling breast cancer, started the organization last year to raise much needed funds to support research and to educate women about early detection. The group organizes fundraisers on the South Shore, including an annual 5K walk and dinner dance at the Halifax Country Club.
