Dexter Burley, PhD, Cornelia Cremens, MPH, MD, and Barbara Moscowitz, LISCW, of the MGH Geriatric Medicine Unit, recently accepted a generous gift from the Acampora estate to endow the Acampora Family Caregiver Support Program. This endowment will be used to address the mental health needs of geriatric patients and their family caregivers. Burley, who initiated the program, says: "For a long time we have been aware of the family caregiver as a pressure point in geriatric care. Unfortunately, it is an issue that has not received adequate attention or financial support. This generous gift from the Acampora family allows us to directly address this issue."
