MGH ranked as one of top three hospitals in nation

The MGH has again ranked third in U.S. News & World Report's annual hospital "honor roll," with a number one ranking in the psychiatry category for the fifth year in a row. BWH also made the list, ranking eighth, while McLean Hospital ranked third in psychiatry and Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital ranked 14 in rehabilitation.

Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, a sister institution of the MGH, ranked third in the ear, nose and throat category and fourth in eye care. Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore ranked first overall, and the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., ranked second.

The highest rated hospital in the Northeast for the 11th year in a row, the MGH has been among the leading institutions since the publication began conducting the survey in 1990. The honor roll and the 17 specialty rankings will appear in the July 17 issue of U.S. News & World Report, which will be available on newsstands July 10.
