Jay A. Fishman, MD, of the MGH Infectious Disease Division, recently was elected to the Board of Directors of the American Society of Transplantation (AST). He is the first infectious disease clinician to be elected to the board of AST.

Benjamin Z. Leder, MD, of the MGH Endocrine Unit, recently received a Glenn Foundation Endocrinology and Aging Award. The Glenn Foundation Awards are presented for research abstracts focused on areas of basic biology and closely related to the problems of aging and endocrinology. The following MGH physicians were awarded the Daniel D. Federman Outstanding Clinician Educator Award. The award is presented to Harvard Medical School faculty who have devoted their professional lives to academic and clinical teaching.

Emery N. Brown, MD, PhD, director of the Statistics Research Laboratory in the MGH Department of Anesthesia and Critical Care, recently was awarded an Independent Scientist Award from the National Institutes of Mental Health. The award is a five-year grant to develop mathematical algorithms to decipher how sets of neurons in the brain encode information into short-term memory.
