Transfer of radiological services for preadmission testing
Beginning June 28, all radiological services for patients undergoing preadmission testing
in the Preadmission Test Area (PATA) will be conducted at WACC 2 Radiology Room 219.
Although WACC 2 is a walk-in service for patients, the Radiology Department staff
encourages preadmission exams to be scheduled in advance. Radiological exams should be
scheduled at least one hour before a patient's preadmission testing appointment to help
expedite the exam interpretation and to ensure availability of reports to referring
physicians. All radiological exams must be coordinated by the physician's office.
According to Patty Marotta, manager of
Ambulatory Care Operations for the Radiology Department, in addition to the change of
location, preadmission radiological studies will be available for diagnostic and reference
purposes through the new digital imaging system that is networked to the PACS/AMICAS/CAS
system. The digital imaging system provides physicians a higher quality image, the ability
to view multiple images and electronic storage of studies. At the new location on WACC 2,
the radiology voice-recognition dictation system is available to help improve
accessibility to final reports for preadmission testing.
For more information about access to and training
for the PACS/AMICAS/CAS system, call Sharon Antiles at 4-7886. To schedule a preadmission
radiology exam, call 4-XRAY.
