Emergency
medicine physicians lead conference in Middle East
Under the auspices of the Harvard Medical International Center for Emergency Medicine, emergency physicians from the MGH, BWH and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center recently traveled to Israel and Jordan to help develop emergency medical care in the Middle East and bring together medical leaders from the war-torn region. During their 12-day trip, the Harvard delegation led a leadership forum and co-chaired the Israeli Emergency Medicine Conference. Joined by physicians representing nations from England to Ethiopia, the Harvard group discussed how the countries could advance emergency medical care and taught workshops on such topics as airway management. "Our group was instrumental in bringing the leaders of Israeli and Jordanian emergency medicine together on a collaborative level," said Eric Legome, MD, of the MGH Emergency Department. "We believe this will contribute to helping further the peace process in the region." |
