MGH wins Boston's bike-to-work challenge

Escorted by the MGH Police and Security bike patrol, a pack of 30 MGHers rode to the citywide bicycle festival May 21 at City Hall Plaza, where the hospital received the Bike-to-Work Corporate Challenge Award. Andrea D'Amato, commissioner of the Department of Transportation, presented the award to Dave Ryan and Cheryl Lyman of the MGH Police, Security and Parking Department. The award recognized the MGH for having the largest employee participation — 180 employees — in Bike-to-Work Day earlier that week. By winning the challenge, the riders earned a prize all MGHers will be able to enjoy — a free ice cream party for the entire hospital donated by Ben and Jerry's, to be scheduled for this summer.
