Stahl speaks at commencement for Institute of Health Professions

052899Stahl.jpg (13207 bytes)Lesley Stahl, CBS news correspondent, addressed 120 graduates of the MGH Institute of Health Professions at their commencement ceremony May 15. As one of the first women to succeed in television news, she told graduates of "paying her dues" as a young reporter more than 20 years ago. "Take baby steps into your future," she advised them. "Accept the unpleasantness that may go with it, and build on the experience and strength it gives you."

Presiding at the ceremony was Ann Caldwell, interim president of the Institute. James J. Mongan, MD, president of the MGH, also spoke, and Matina Horner, PhD, chair of the Institute's Board of Trustees, awarded the diplomas.

Among the graduating students was Delia Yi-Dan Wolf, MD, the first to earn the Institute's master of science degree in Clinical Investigation, a new credential in clinical research. Wolf, formerly of MGH Research Affairs, has just been appointed associate director for Quality Assurance and Human Subject Protection for Partners and vice chair of the Partners Human Research Committee.
