Another milestone reached at the Institute of Health Professions

The 22nd commencement of the MGH Institute of Health Professions, held May 5 on the Quad of Harvard Medical School, marked the conferral of the first doctor of physical therapy degree to 22 graduates. All of the graduates were a part of the first class to have studied in both the Institute's old building and the new location at CNY.

Noted author, Boston Globe columnist and former Institute trustee, James Carroll, delivered a thought-provoking keynote speech on the fluidity of time and the concept of commencement as an "ending of one moment and a beginning of the next."After the main ceremony, graduates reassembled within their programs to honor award winners and celebrate with a reception.

The Institute continues to commemorate milestones this year with a celebration of the organization's 25th anniversary and a dedication of its new building June 15. The Partners HealthCare community is invited to join the Institute in celebrating 25 years of excellence in health care education at the Catherine Filene Shouse Building in CNY. The building will be open from 9 am to 2 pm for self-guided tours of research poster presentations from faculty, students and alumni. Evelyn Murphy, former lieutenant governor of Massachusetts, will speak at the mid-day dedication, which will be followed by a prepaid picnic in the adjacent Shipyard Park.
