Support service grants
The Support Service Employees Grant Program now is accepting applications from MGH support service employees who are interested in receiving education grants. The program was developed to help employees fulfill their career goals while improving current job performance. This competitive grant program is available to all support service employees who have worked at the MGH for at least two years, are benefits eligible and are in good standing. Applications are available at Human Resources locations on White 14, 75 Blossom Court and CNY 7. Application deadline is June 26 for financial assistance for the fall 2002 and spring 2003 semesters. MGH blood drive
The MGH bloodmobile will be at CNY, May 22, 8:30 am to 2 pm. MGHers at CNY are invited to celebrate 60 years of the MGH Blood Donor Center by donating blood. To schedule an appointment, contact Susan Murphy at (617) 724-6518 or by e-mail at smurphy4@partners.org.

Smith Memorial Lecture
The MGH Orthopaedic Hand Service has announced the 13th annual Richard J. Smith, MD, Memorial Lecture, May 23 at 4 pm in the Bigelow Amphitheater. The guest lecturer will be Peter J. Stern, MD, of the Orthopaedics Department at the University of Cincinnati. All are invited to attend. WACC restricted access
Access from the Main lobby to the elevator area on the first floor of the WACC will be closed from May 31 at 8 pm to June 2 at 11 pm. The restriction is to install new flooring in the WACC. The Medical Walk-in Clinic will relocate on these two days to the Surgical Day Care Unit on WACC 3.

MGPO seminars
The Massachusetts General Physicians Organization (MGPO) will hold the first of three disease-based seminars May 22, from 5 to 6:30 pm in the Bigelow Amphitheater. The seminars are a part of the series "Advances in Genetics and Technology: What Will They Mean for Your Patient?" This first seminar about cardiovascular disease will feature panelists Richard Pasternak, MD; Joseph Garasic, MD; and William Dec, MD, all of MGH Cardiology. CME Category 1 credit will be offered. CNRC accepting applications
The Clinical Nutrition Research Center at Harvard Medical School now is accepting applications for new pilot/feasibility projects and competing renewals of currently funded one-year projects. Applicants should send a letter of interest by June 7 to W. Timilty Partnership summer employment
The MGH/Timilty Partnership will place Timilty Middle School students in MGH departments that need part-time help. The Partnership also is offering Jobs for Boston Youth, which is a program that links SummerWorks alumni and students from East Boston High School with job opportunities at the MGH.
