  Jeanette Ives Erickson, RN, MS, senior vice president for Patient Care Services and chief nurse, presented "Nurses: Leaders or Victims? Taking Control of Our Profession," as part of the MGH's celebration of National Nursing Week, May 8 through 12.

• A special Mother's Day gift
  MGH patient Hatice Akdeniz is celebrating two very special gifts this Mother's Day — her long-term remission from leukemia and the birth of her daughter, Selin.

• Cliff Stewart: Master builder, mentor and friend
  Cliff Douglas Stewart III may not have been an MGH employee, but many considered him a true MGHer. After Stewart's death last year at age 47, former colleagues, friends and family members came together to establish a scholarship in his memory that would provide MGH or Walsh Brother employees to take college or construction courses.

• Results from the MGH Pain Pulse
  On March 22, MGH staff simultaneously measured the pain level of all inpatients and some outpatients during the "Pain Pulse" — an initiative of the MGH Cares About Pain Relief Project.

• Health Awareness Day in Charlestown
  Members of the MGH Charlestown HealthCare Center recently participated in the center's annual Health Awareness Day at Johnnie's Foodmaster in the Bunker Hill Mall.

  Best-selling author Claire Berman will speak about issues related to caregiving for aging parents and other aging-related topics in a special presentation May 24, 5 to 7:30 pm, Walcott Rooms 2 and 3.
