IHP commencement
All MGH and Partners-affiliated employees are invited to the MGH Institute of Health Professions (IHP) commencement May 15, 1 pm, on the grounds of McLean Hospital, Belmont. Lesley Stahl, CBS news correspondent and author, will address the graduates. No registration is necessary. For more information, call 6-4276.

Ascension Thursday
The MGH Chaplaincy will hold Roman Catholic Mass on Ascension Thursday May 13, 10:30 am, in the MGH Chapel. All are welcome. For information, call 6-2220.

Spaulding lecture
Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital will host the Josiah Spaulding Lecture, an annual event named in honor of its founder, May 17, 6:30 pm, at the Royal Sonesta Hotel, Cambridge. The speaker will be Charles Clements, MD, MPH, winner of the 1997 Nobel Prize for Peace. A reception will begin at 5:30 pm. For reservations, call 573-7080.

Stroke Awareness lunch
MGHers are invited to the Stroke Awareness Awards Luncheon and a free lecture about stroke and disability presented by Walter Koroshetz, MD, of MGH Neurology, May 14, at the Boston Copley Marriott Hotel, 4th floor. Robert Ojemann, MD, of MGH Neurosurgery, will receive the C. Miller Fisher, MD, Award. The lecture will take place, 10:30 to 11:30 am, followed by the luncheon, noon to 1:30 pm. AMMP scholarships
The Association of Multicultural Members of Partners (AMMP) is accepting applications for 1999 scholarships, which offer MGH and Partners-affiliated minority employees awards of up to $1000 for continuing education. For more information, call 6-4276 or send e-mail to mmbrewster@partners.org.

Interventional cardiology course
The MGH, BWH and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center will present a course on interventional cardiology May 10 to 12 at the Fairmont Copley Plaza, Boston. Developments in interventional cardiology will be reviewed, and live case demonstrations will be televised. To register or for fee information, call 6-2256.

Bike to Work Week
MGH employees are encouraged to participate in Boston’s Bike to Work Week, which includes the citywide Corporate Challenge, May 18. MGHers who cycle to work that day will receive a free continental breakfast, MGH T-shirt and a chance to win an ice cream party for the hospital. MGHers also will ride as a group to the Bike Festival May 21 at City Hall. Spelling bee benefits literacy
Partners HealthCare is participating in the 10th annual Corporate Spelling Bee to benefit the Boston Adult Literacy Fund May 19, 5:30 pm, at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston. MGHers interested in participating on the Partners team should call 278-1053.

Vincent Show
The Vincent Club will host its annual Vincent Show, a musical production benefiting the Vincent Memorial Hospital. This year’s show, "20th Century Unlimited," will take place May 13, 14, and 15, 8 pm, at the Hasty Pudding Theater, Cambridge, with a matinee performance May 15, at 2 pm. The Vincent Award of Distinction for Outstanding Contributions in Women’s Health Care will be given to W. Gerald Austen, MD, of the MGPO, at the May 15 evening performance. Schwartz caregiver awards
The Schwartz Center has created an award to honor caregivers who display extraordinary compassion in caring for patients. The Kenneth B. Schwartz Center Compassionate Caregiver of the Year Award will be accompanied by a $5,000 prize to be shared among its recipients. To request a nomination, send in-house mail to the Kenneth B. Schwartz Center, 100 CRP or call 4-6416. The deadline is June 21.
