A celebration of culture: The African Diaspora Diaspora is defined as "the scattering of people throughout the world." MGHers were treated to an exploration of the African Diaspora in the Main Lobby Feb. 28. The MGH Patient Care Services Diversity Committee offered a colorful and informative display, featuring tables (pictured below) devoted to the diversity of the seven continents. Individual tables included information about the history of people from Africa across each continent. The tables highlighted contributions of Africa to culture and society, spirituality and religion in the African community, examples of traditional African clothing, the accomplishments of African citizens, and the struggles and difficulties faced by Africans in the fight for freedom. MGHers also received additional treats: Peruvian guitar music, a Gospel jubilee and dance performances.
