AMMP celebrates Black History Month

In recognition of Black History Month, the Association of Multicultural Members of Partners (AMMP) at the MGH hosted speaker Donnie J. Perkins, dean and director of Affirmative Action and Diversity at Northeastern University, Feb. 12 in the Trustees Room. Perkins (right) spoke about the 2004 Black History Month national theme "Brown vs. Board of Education 50th year anniversary," recognizing the groundbreaking US Supreme Court case that ended federally-sanctioned racial segregation in the public school system.

Peter L. Slavin, MD, president of the MGH, Jeannette Ives Erickson, RN, MS, senior vice president for MGH Patient Care Services and chief nurse, and Jeff Davis, senior vice president for MGH Human Resources, joined the celebration. Anthony Thomas, of the MGH Cancer Center, sang "Mighty Spirit." Loretta Holliday, chair of AMMP, presented an award and gift to Perkins for his participation in the event.
