lectures
MGH Police and Security,
along with the MGH Safety Department, will host lectures about suspicious
packages, suspicious substances, bomb threats and evacuation Feb. 18,
from noon to 1 pm at the MGH Everett Health Center; Feb. 19, from noon
to 1 pm at CNY, Building 114; Feb. 25, from noon to 1 pm at the MGH North
End Health Center; Feb. 27, from noon to 1 pm and 1 to 2 pm at the MGH
Chelsea HealthCare Center; and March 2, from 8 to 9 am at the MGH Back

EAP work/life seminar
The MGH Employee
Assistance Program (EAP) will offer a Work/Life seminar "Basic
Budgeting" Feb. 19, from noon to 1 pm in the Wellman Conference Room.
Brendan Vigorito, of Consumer Credit Counseling Services, will focus on
skills necessary to manage money, use credit wisely and establish long-term

Basic Biostatistics for Clinical Investigators
The Clinical
Research Program, the General Clinical Research Center and the Center
for Clinical Nutrition are sponsoring "Basic Biostatistics for Clinical
Investigators" in the Walcott 2 and 3 Conference Rooms, Feb. 17 and
24, from 4 to 5:30 pm. The Feb. 17 lecture, "Drawing Inferences from
Data (Part 2): Estimating and Comparing Proportions" will discuss
how to analyze data where the outcome is binary. Intended for investigators
at the fellow and faculty level with minimal statistical experience, this
course will consist of one-hour lectures followed by a discussion. Registration

Boston Stroke Society symposium
The Boston Stroke Society will hold its winter assembly "Migraine
and Stroke" Feb. 25, at 7:20 pm in the Wellman Conference Room. A
limited-seating dinner prior to the event also will be held with advance
reservations. Marie-Germaine Bousser, professor and head of Neurology
at the Lariboisiere Medical Faculty and Hospital in Paris, will be the

by Feb. 20. Cost of dinner is $15 for staff, $5 for residents and fellows.
HOPES seminars
The MGH HOPES (Helping Our Patients and Families through Education and
Support) program will offer several seminars and support groups in February.
Paula Rauch, MD, and Nina Muriel, MD, both MGH child psychiatrists, and
Steve Durant, EdD, an MGH child psychologist, will offer "Parenting
with Cancer" Feb. 17 and 24, from 11 am to noon. Elizabeth Cook,
an expressive arts therapist, will lead "Art
and Healing" Feb. 17, from 1 to 2 pm. Luba Zagachin, a yoga instructor,
will lead "Gentle Yoga" Feb. 19 and 26, from 11:30 am to 12:30
pm. A "Caregivers Support Group" led by Eileen Joyce, MSW, LICSW,
of MGH Social Work, will meet Feb. 19, from 1:30 to 2:30 pm. All events
will be held in the Cancer Resource Room on Cox 1. Seminars and drop-in
support groups are free, and no prior registration is required. For more
