Ethics forum series
The MGH Ethics Task Force will sponsor "Invasive Procedures in Patients with Limitation of Life-sustaining Treatment Orders" Feb. 9, 5 to 6 pm (reception with refreshments, 4:30 to 5 pm) in the Ether Dome. Speakers include David Berger, MD, of the MGH Department of Surgery; Arthur Waltman, MD, of Radiology; and Robert Peterfreund, MD, PhD, of Anesthesiology. This discussion will be moderated by Eric Krakauer, MD, PhD, of the MGH Department of Medicine and chair of the MGH Life-sustaining Treatment Policy Committee. Harvard Eating Disorders Center public forum
The Harvard Eating Disorders Center will sponsor "Culture, the Media and Eating Disorders," Feb. 15, 7 to 8:30 pm at the Arthur M. Sackler Museum of Art, Harvard University, Cambridge. Speakers include actress Natalie Portman; Magalli, a model from Q Models in New York; Robin Lasser, associate professor of Art; and Kathryn Sylva, assistant professor of Design, University of California, Davis and San Jose University. The Circles Dance Ensemble also will perform. Dixie Whatley, Arts and Entertainment editor for WCVB-TV Channel 5, will moderate. For more information, call 236-7766.

Volunteers needed for Timilty Science Fair
The MGH/Timilty Partnership seeks MGHers to judge student projects during the annual Science Fair week, Feb. 14 to 18, at the James P. Timilty Middle School in Roxbury. MGHers can volunteer to judge on one or more days. Round-trip transportation will be provided, departing from the MGH at 8:30 am and returning at 11:30 am. HOPES seminars
The MGH HOPES (Helping Our Patients/Families through Education and Support) Program will present "Appetite Loss: Tips for Family Members," facilitated by Jill Oravitz, RD, of MGH Nutrition Services, Feb. 14, noon to 1 pm. "Resources for Hope," facilitated by Rev. Mary Martha Thiel of the MGH Chaplaincy, will be offered Feb. 16, noon to 1 pm. "Parenting in Challenging Times: A Drop-In Support Group for Parents," facilitated by Paula Rauch, MD, of MGH Psychiatry, will be offered Feb. 22, 11 am to noon. Corridor closing
Beginning Feb. 1, construction for the new PET scan suite on White 2 will require closing the corridor between White 2 and WACC 2. It is expected that the corridor will remain closed until April 21. Travel between White 2 and WACC 2 will be directed to the White elevators and stairs or the WACC elevators and stairs, down to the first floor and back up to the second floor. Black History Month celebrations
Patient Care Services will hold a Black History Month celebration, "Remembering our History," in the O'Keeffe Auditorium, Feb. 11, 10 am to 2 pm. The event will feature several speakers. In addition, Deborah Washington, RN, director of Diversity for Patient Care Services, will speak about "Living for Something Larger," at a Black History Month event sponsored by the Association of Multicultural Members of Partners, Feb. 16, noon to 1:30 pm in CRP 185. All employees of Partners institutions are welcome.
