MGH offsets MBTA rate hike
MGH Parking and Commuter Services has announced that the MGH will increase
its MBTA subsidy to compensate for the MBTA rate increase, effective with
the February 2004 passes. While the MBTA has raised most rates by 25 percent,
the MGH subsidy also will increase 25 percent to shoulder the burden of
the MBTA increase.
Commuter Services continues to take advantage of pre-tax opportunities,
resulting in employees paying 30 percent less on average for their pre-tax
deduction. Below is the new rate chart, effective for February's passes.
In addition, MGH Parking and Commuter Services has eliminated fees for
the employee weekend "debit" program for the front garages,
effective the first weekend in April. On April 3, employees will be able
to use either their weekend or night access card to park at no charge.
Employees will have three months to use existing debits. No refunds will
be issued for any remaining debits. Employees needing to purchase additional
debits until this change may purchase five debits at a time for $7.
