Ira Lable , MD
| Dr. Lable is a Training and Supervising Analyst at the Psychoanalytic Institute of New England, East and has been a member of the psychiatry department at Massachusetts General Hospital for over 35 years. He completed his psychiatric residency at MGH where he was chief resident and the Acting Director of the Psychiatric Inpatient Service. While pursuing his psychoanalytic training he continued his interest in neuroscience and psychotherapy by chairing a discussion group at the American Psychoanalytic Association entitled “Mind, Brain and Psychoanalysis” that continued for 20 years. He has supervised psychiatric residents and psychoanalytic candidates in psychoanalytic psychotherapy and psychoanalysis and has taught extensively at his psychoanalytic institute focusing on metapsychology, character development and ethics. He is presently Chair of the Committee of Training Analysts at his institute after two years as Chair of the Education Committee. His clinical and research interests include the study of the use of the psychoanalytic couch and the development of the psychoanalytic process, and the psychophysiologic parameters of the psychoanalytic situation. |
