FDA Launches Ad Campaign for Generic Drugs
Volume XIV, Issue 1

The FDA is releasing four public safety announcements (PSAs) for radio, highlighting the safety of generic medications. Four announcements (two different 60-second PSAs in English, one 30-second PSA in English, and 1 60-second PSA in Spanish) depict nervous and cautious individuals who talk about the relative risks and safety of everyday activities.  However, when it comes to generic drugs, they are not nervous and are completely confident about taking them.  At the end of each announcement, listeners are urged to talk to a doctor or pharmacist to learn more about the safety and effectiveness of generic drugs in the United States.  It also lists a phone number (1-888-INFO-F-D-A) and a website www.fda.gov.  To view or listen to the ads, you may visit the FDA website at http://www.fda.gov/cder/consumerinfo/generics_radio.htm .
