| Usual Dose and Route | ** First and second dose must be given by a physician ** DOSE: 5 - 10 mg IVP OVER 1 MINUTE DAILY FOR 10 TO 14 DAYS CAUTION: DRUG MUST BE ADMINISTERED UNDILUTED - Administer through filter (0.22 micron low-protein binding) supplied by pharmacy. - Steroid pulse therapy should be given at 12 and 1 hour interval prior to okt-3 administration - Antihistamines and acetaminophen are given 30 minutes prior to first dose to ameliorate adverse reactions. |
| Special Considerations: | - Monitor patient closely after first and second dose. vital signs must be measured every 15 minutes for 2 hours, then every 30 minutes for 2 hours or until stable. If steroid pulse therapy has been given in the previous 12 hours, steroids may be omitted prior to first dose of okt-3. |
| Precautions and Side Effects: | - Anaphylaxis, including flushing, acute
respiratory distress, and tachycardia - Elevated temperature, rigors - Hypertension, pulmonary edema, fluid retention - Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea - Headache, paresthesia, hyperesthesia, tremors, confusion, seizures, malaise - Arthralgias |
