12.5 - 25 g IVP, may be repeated every 4 - 6 hours |

Special Considerations: |
- Monitor serum & urine electrolytes, serum osmolality - IV infusions must have a 1 micron in-line filter - Mannitol vials must be drawn up using a filter needle - In the presence of end stage renal disease mannitol may be harmful by causing an over expansion of intravascular fluid resulting in signs and symptoms of pulmonary edema and CHF. |
