| Usual Dosage Range and Route: | Initial or loading dose must be administered in the presence of a physician Loading dose: 0.625 - 1.25mg IV push over 5 minutes *loading dose is usually given prior to starting maintenance Maintanence dose: 0.625, 1.25, 2.5, to 5.0 mg repeated every 6 hours as titrated to patient response. After a stable dose has been determined rn may administer intermitent IVP maintenance doses |
| Special Considerations: | - Use caution when concomitent
administration of potassium supplements or potassium sparing diuretics - Hyponatremia can occur in patients on diuretics and low salt diets - Cumulative effects may be observed in renal insufficiency. Dosage adjustment may be required - Hypotensive effects may be potentiated when administered to patients receiving duiretics |
