  Within MGH, a variety of research opportunities exist for all nurses to become actively involved in research.
    Staff Nurses
  • Use nursing knowledge to inform practice decisions.
  • Develop scholarships to disseminate knowledge and research experiences.
  • Seek mentoring to identify researchable topics, clinical questions and related research studies needed to conduct clinical inquiry.
  • Participate in Collaborative Governance Nursing Research   Committee and Quality Committees.
  • Participate in Journal Club and evaluate evidence for practice.
  • Obtain funding to support clinical investigations through Yvonne L. Munn Research Awards.
    Masters-Prepared Nurses
  • Create an environment that fosters research-based practice at MGH.
  • Encourage, mentor and support nursing staff to translate knowledge into practice.
  • Create evidence for practice.
  • Stimulate staff participation in the development and conduct of research    investigations.
  • Mentored by more senior researchers.
  • Seek new opportunities to advance one’s own research.
  • Participate in Collaborative Governance as a member of the Nursing Research Committee.
  • Seek research funding through the annual Yvonne L. Munn  Research Award.
  • Review proposals and select Yvonne L. Munn Research Award recipients.
  • Develop evidence-based practice.
    Doctoral Students
  • Engage in the pursuit of advanced nursing through research.
  • Participate in Doctoral Forum.
  • Seek internal funding to support research studies.
  • Design flexible schedules to support academic advancement.
    Doctorally-Prepared Nurses
  • Create “environment of inquiry” and research-based nursing practice at MGH.
  • Develop, test and evaluate the impact of new knowledge and research evidence to inform care delivery and workforce issues.
  • Mentor all nurses who seek funding from the annual Yvonne L. Munn Nursing Research Award.
  • Participate in and guide direction of Doctoral Forum.
  • Engage in the Nurse Scientist Advancement Model.
  • Seek support for research program advancement through the Yvonne L. Munn Post-Doctoral Fellowship.
  • Serve as coach for the Collaborative Government Nursing Research Committee.
  • Seek external funding to support a program of research.
  • Seek opportunities for protected time to develop a research agenda.
